RIVER BY JONI MITCHELL
It’s
December 1st and this song is the best, most tear-jerking pre-Xmas
song that a Canadian Legend has ever recorded. It’s been covered and that
always proves to be a little embarrassing (I'm looking at you Robert Downey Jr.) because, like, it’s Joni Effing
Mitchell.
For some reason, I always think of Blue, the album this is on, as a Christmas album. There are other songs that were released near the holidays that I think of as Xmas songs as well, such as Whitney’s, “I Will Always Love You.” Since I’m such the comment slut, I’d like to ask you if there are any songs that, in your head, are Christmas songs, but actually aren’t.
It
don’t snow here, it stays pretty green. I’m gonna make a lot of money and quit
this crazy scene:
He
tried hard to help me, you know, he put me at ease
And he loved me so naughty, made me weak in the knees
And he loved me so naughty, made me weak in the knees
