Oh My God! I Totally Love This Song!


BOYS ON THE RADIO BY HOLE

Say what you will about Courtney Love but she put out two really great albums with Hole. Hole played this song live but it had different lyrics and was called “Sugar Coma” and then showed up on Celebrity Skin all reworked and sounding great.  It takes a little bit of Mamas and the Papas, a little Fleetwood Mac, a little Beach Boys and throws it in the Hole blender and ends up being a really great song. To me, this song sounds like California.

I think that not releasing this as a single was a big mistake. Imagine, if you will, a video for this song where Courtney and the band play camp counsellors (imagine having her a camp counsellor) and we see a romance play out between two kids at camp.  It would have been part Meatballs with a dash of Wet Hot American Summer. Oh, lost opportunities.
