ONE MORE HOUR BY SLEATER-KINNEY
This is, without a doubt, the best and saddest lesbian break-up song, like, ever. (Sexist! Douchey!) This is just two guitars and drum kit and vocals but it just rocks. Corin Tucker’s voice on the verses is sad and when the chorus kicks in and Carrie Brownstein’s dueling vocal comes in it could either be the other partner in this story or the lead’s subconscious being a mean, sarcastic bitch.
When Tucker sings, “Don’t say another word about the other girl,” at the end, her voice softens into a Belinda Carslise-esque trill and you’ll be floored.
One of the best songs off the best album by one of the best bands of the last 20 years.
