Cool Art

GREGORY THIELKER

Revisited   2010   oil on linen   33 x 48 inches

“In the United States, nostalgia for landscape created and fueled by Manifest Destiny has perpetuated a desire for freedom and newness with each journey in the car.”
Gregory Thielker

These are not photos but actually paintings. They are so gorgeous especially to someone like me who likes nothing more than being a passenger in a car. They completely transport you to another place and I would love to see one or all of them in person. There is something very serious and American about them but because of their photo-realism, they become, well I don’t want to say fun, but something that’s almost fun. They are just beautifully done and technically (from the perspective of the internet anyway) perfect.
