TALK IS CHEAP BY CHET FAKER
So this has been playing a lot ever since one of my most
devoted readers turned me on to this guy. I am loving his whole “Built on
Glass,” plus he is Australian and I love me some Australians. Upon first listen
I found it a bit pastiche-y, but the layers grew on me and I find myself
playing this pretty often. Perfect summer jams by a dude born on June 23rd
which is one of my favorite days upon which a person could be born.
This song is almost giving me bad 80’s sax a la “You Belong
to the City,” (I did and I do belong to the city, but that song is. The. Worst.
) The video is a bit of a nightmare. Kind of a hippie version of that awful
Sledgehammer thing I was force fed as a kid over and over and over again. Kids
today (Like, OMG!) have so many options and choices and I hope it all leads to
better art. Go, kids! Make shit!
