MISS TEEN WORDPOWER BY NEW PORNOGRAPHERS
Who doesn’t love a really big Canadian band? We’ve got
Broken Social Scene, Fucked Up, Arcade Fire, and my personal fave, New
Pornographers. This is a super happy song and I need that today. The summer
weather hasn’t been great here and on this cloudy morning (which will have
hopefully burnt off by noon) we could all use a little peppy ditty.
Carl Newman’s and Neko Case’s vocals mix perfectly and, as
always with this band, the lyrics are dense and kinda weird in the best
possible way. The beat and the keyboards propel this thing forward like there’s
no stopping it. How about we all take a cue from that and don’t let anything
stop us today. It’s the weekend. Work hard and then enjoy the hell out of
yourself and love everyone around you a little harder today.
