Having grown up in the city, I never had that “get out of this place” feeling as a kid. I mean, I wanted out of my neighborhood, but that is easy compared to the people I know who left small towns to chase their dreams in the big city. This song is for them and their bravery for doing it their way.
This
song is a little bittersweet, as well, with the perspective of age. Once you
pass a certain point, you just don’t feel that kind of youthful possibility
that would overwhelm you in your youth. Don’t get me wrong, things are still
possible, but maturity kinda puts parameters on how much of that feeling that
anything could happen you feel.
Then be happy with the consequence whatever’s gonna happen tonight: Can we take a ride get out of this place while we still have time:
