Oh My God! I Totally Love This Song!

WILL YOU STILL LOVE ME TOMORROW BY THE SHIRELLES

I imagine this gorgeous song was so racy in it’s time that it must have shocked parents all over the place. A young woman asking the titular phrase to someone with whom she’s about to sex. Simply shocking! Anybody who’s ever had a slutty moment they weren’t sure was a slutty moment or the beginning of something has felt the sentiment this song delivers. And, oh does it deliver.

Carole King wrote an amazing song and the lyric communicates a timeless story. Those harmonies are amazing and the strings are the best and the lead vocal is perfect. This is one of those songs that I never tire of and that everybody knows. I just wanted to remind you all to give it a listen.

Also, I honestly don’t believe in the word slutty. Sexual escapades are one of the highlights of being alive and all exploration should be done with consideration and thought, but also abandonment and in the spirit of exultation. And really, in 2012, who gives a shit if he/she loves you tomorrow if you love yourself?

Is this a lasting treasure or just a moment’s pleasure?
