Oh My God! I Totally Love This Song!

I have a feeling this chick is either going to be huge in 2012, or she will be the second coming of Fiona Apple. She is magazine-cover ready, seems to have a point of view missing from the American pop landscape and writes her own material. I’ve read the phrase “gansta Nancy Sinatra” used to describe her in a few different places, and while that’s pretty obnoxious, it’s also kinda fitting. 


Little Lizzie Grant grew up well off and made her first indie album in 2010 which showed up on iTunes and then, quickly, disappeared. Her stuff had been on the Internet after that and then just a couple months ago, she was signed to interscope records. At some point she changed her name taking the Lana for Lana Turner and the Del Rey for the Ford Del Rey. Her debut will drop later this month. 


This song has been around for a while and she’s actually already working a second single. It appeared on the CW’s Ringer and is getting radio play. I think you’ll probably hear it a lot. I’m interested to see how sites like Jezebel and The Hairpin interpret what she’s doing because, on this song anyway, she’s positioned herself as a bad girl who lives for her bad man above anything else. Personally, I love that she’s playing with this kind of stuff. The video is a showcase for her drop-dead beauty.
