Oh My God! I Totally Love This Song!

SHADOWS OF THE NIGHT BY PAT BENATAR

Pat Benatar rocked my world completely when I was a pre-teen and even a bit when I was a teen. She ran with the shadows of the night. She belonged to the night. She felt the heat of the night. She heard promises in the dark. She lived for love so you better treat her right. And when the night grew too long, her clone slept alone. As an adult I rediscovered her and she still totally rocks!

The video is awesome. Pat looking tough-sexy as always but this time she’s in World War 2 and she’s a fighter pilot! This is almost as cool as when she dances the pimp dude right out of the club in the Love is a Battlefield video (that’s the one where a “teen” Pat runs away from home and works in a private-dancer-dancer-for-money kinda bar. Did these somehow exist in the 80’s?). I love a tough chick and Pat was the best dressed tough chick puttin’ out hits in the 80’s and this one is one of my favorites. It’s totally over the top and high drama and I’m surprised that awful Glee show hasn’t butchered it yet.

You can cry tough baby it’s alright you can let me down easy but not tonight:

Surrender all your dreams to me tonight they’ll come true in the end:
