Hey remember when these dudes came along to save rock n’ roll? It’s been more than ten years since then and rock music is still here. I guess every few years there is a new rock savior and since I figure most kids listen to rap and/or hip hop, the genre ain’t what it used to be. Or maybe as long as there are kids there will be rock music of some form or other. Or maybe rap needs to go through it’s “grunge” phase where artifice is mostly stripped away and something new happens. There is a song every few years that a rapper puts out where all the olds start tapping their feet and are all, “I get this. I finally get this.” Is hip hop to rock what rock is to jazz?
