BLEED AMERICAN BY JIMMY EAT WORLD
After the first time I heard this song I ran out and bought the album. It was August of 2001 and this sounded like a great rock record for a new decade. I know there were hits off of this but this should be one of those classic albums where everyone you know has a copy.
Unfortunately for the band, the album is also called Bleed American and September 11, 2001 happened. I think they re-released it without a name but just when this thing should’ve been hitting everywhere, they had to have a title like that.
I’m sure they were heard anyway, and sold lots of copies, so no harm, no foul. But, if you don’t have a copy, you should get one. There aren’t a lot of albums (I refuse to call them “song cycles” no matter how old it makes me sound) that are this good from start to finish. As an old friend once said (it was in reference to her awesome family but works here too) there’s not a dud in the bunch.
