THE FIRST SEASON BY JOHN FRUSCIANTE
I would not consider myself a Red Hot Chili Peppers fan by any stretch (the odd single has been good) but I would consider myself a huge John Frusciante fan. The on-and-off-and-on-again guitarist has a huge body of solo work and this is from one of his many albums. I’m not really sure what he’s singing about and that can be a good thing. Some songs are like really good poetry and can be interpreted many ways by the listener. John Frusciante creates musical environments that envelope the aural landscape and spark imagination and passion.
The vocal on this is soulful, mournful and in a really sexy lower register. The guitar playing is interesting and all the other sounds just make this a great song. Somebody hilarious once said of this song, “This is my fire number.” They were referencing their set if they were a stripper. This song, indeed, would make an amazing fire number for any stripper, male or female.
