LETTER FROM AN OCCUPANT BY THE NEW PORNOGRAPHERS
I read somewhere that they had asked Neko Case to sing like a robot on this track. I’m glad she did because this song is great. The amazing keyboards, the vocal, and then, in the middle, it almost all comes off the rails but doesn’t quite. Also, they lyrically check Joni Mitchell and that is awesome.
I’ve seen this song performed live a few times and actually the recorded version really caught lightning in a bottle. New Pornographers’ sound always makes me think of a bunch a kids puttin’ on a show and this show makes me wanna dance and bust out some of my weirdest moves.
