I would have this dinner party early in the evening during late Spring. I would serve TV dinners on TV trays that I paid some local hipster artist to paint. Dessert would an assortment of Hostess baked treats and candy. The drinks would be margaritas, the fruity kind in every flavor but lime.
The Guests:
Gina Schock - The drummer from the Go-Go’s would bring some rock n’ roll cred to the proceedings, have the Baltimore thing going with Divine and is cool enough to deal with Sandra, Karen and Jimmy’s shenans if they were to be up to any. She would have some good rock stories and would a good bridge to each person except Karen.
Karen Finley - This loud performance artist would be the wild card of the party. Maybe she’d show up with dead fish to rub on herself. She may steal my date (see below) from under my nose or she could leave with Gina and/or Ms. Sandra. Hell, she could even leave with Divine, and that’s what you want from a wild card guest. Who knows where this night could go?
Divine - Another hilarious person that could share stories of his early days in what was to become Indie Cinema. I think there may be a connection or at least a degree of separation between him and Gina. Also, from past experience I’ve discovered that giant drag queens tend to make pretty good guests. Plus: after the end of Pink Flamingos, anything I prepared would be delicious and amazing.
Sandra Bernhard - She is hilarious and I feel like she could be somewhat of a conversation leader, picking topics, changing subjects and always being her hilarious self. She is filled with pop culture knowledge and doesn’t seem snobby at all.
Jimmy Pop Ali - because he’s funny, sexy and would bring a touch of street to the proceedings. Plus, with Divine as my competition, I’d make my move when we all jumped into the pool after dessert and coffee. Also, I think he’s probably really smart but in a dumb way. Also, like Ms. Bernhard, I think he’d know about a bunch of different things.
