Cool Design

Bolwoningen

These totally cool looking builidings are 80km south of Amsterdam in a municipality called ‘s-Hertogenbosch (not a typo-apparently they call it Den Bosch which means The Forest).  They were designed in the 70’s by artist Dries Kreijkamp and built in the early 80‘s using a grant for new kinds of housing. His idea was that if one lives on a globe, why can’t one live in a globe? Ah, the 70’s.
These homes contain five rooms. The bedrooms are on the main floor, the washroom in the middle and the living rooms on the top. Usually occupied by one or two people, they have a diameter of 5.5 metres and look like Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru’s cool city place.
Since these were made to live on land but can also float or even sail on the water (I’m not sure if these actual models could do any of that or if that was an earlier or later design feature) I would love to have one of these built on a lake with wheels and a motor so I could sail around and call it my Summer cottage.
