Cool Art

Jodi K. Moisan
“Growing up I loved horses and comics, these ponies are the toys of my dreams.”
Jodi K. Moisan’s superhero ponies are so totally awesome that they’re the kind of thing I would have stared at for hours as a child if I’d seen them and I would’ve certainly begged whichever adult I was with, “Please, please, please! I have to have one.”
They are fun and kickass at the same time.  What I love about them is that they look like they just got plucked from a factory. These couldn’t possibly be hand-painted except they totally are.
When I spoke (via email) with Jodi she said,  "My background in art has been a life long one. I have always loved art. My parents always encouraged me and supported my love of it, they signed me up for anything art related and every christmas I received an art kit of some kind.  I went to Ball State for a degree in art education but later changed it to a fine arts degree. I look at being creative as something I just have to do, it has become a part of who I am.”
“Another of my passions is toys, I never grew out of wanting to buy them and have them around me. I started making toys with my grandma, she taught me to sew and make rag dolls. Years later I started customizing action figures and that is what brought me to making the ponies. "

Recently Ms. Moisan had the opportunity to auction off the Wonder Woman pony for charity to benefit women who had left abusive relationships and she found this so rewarding that she has decided that the only way to get one of her ponies is through charity auctions. Her Ponies With A Purpose kicks off with an auction for the Green Lantern pony during the last two weeks of January. She will be auctioning off one of these lil’ kickass cuties every month to benefit a different cause.
