Style Matters
Part Three
Hello gentle reader. I apologize profusely for my neglecting you all these weeks. I’d explain why I haven’t posted but it’s just not that kind of blog.
So, we’re experiencing some ugly, wet, blustery days in my town and while the days are inclement, that is no reason to let your style just fly out the window.
Today, I want to talk about coats.
Specifically, I’d like to address polar fleece.
Polar Fleece has a place. The place is on outdoorsy types who are doing outdoorsy things.
So, if you are a well-clad businesswoman strutting her way to work in the morning, just know that when you throw on your peach coloured polar fleece jacket you are totally destroying your outfit.
If you are a guy and you’re in your hip finery, then please do not ever cover it up with your gray polar fleece coat.
There are so many types of coats. There are jackets, blazers, wraps, car coats, overcoats, rain coats, slickers, capes, cloaks, mackinaws, trenches, windbreakers and the like.
Ah, but Polar Fleece is warm you say. So is layering I say, and honestly, what looks better? And who doesn’t love layering?
Polar Fleece keeps you dry, you say. So does an umbrella and so do a raincoat and a hat, say I.
And you know I’m right.
Maybe where you live, there aren’t as many weekend outdoorsmen as where I live so you don’t have to suffer the indignity of seeing the butt-ugliness of Polar Fleece jackets and if so you’re lucky. In this town, it is a constant eyesore to have to watch people destroying their Look by wrapping it up in an ugly coat. And it’s unnecessary.
So, as the rain falls and the wind blusters, remember Style Matters in the Fall and Winter, too.

I have one coat - a 3/4 (or is it 3/5) length leather jacket which I wear from late November to early April. every other time I don't wear one and sometimes I look stupid. so what is the call, no coat or a polar fleece when it is not cold enough for a leather jacket? (Assuming I had a polar fleece)
You can do a hoodie instead of Polar Fleece.
You can kick it like Kurt and wear a cardigan...(Kardigan...does it need to be renamed?).
Whenever the urge to wear Polar Fleece strikes, just think, "What else could I put on instead?" and you will come up with something better.
I concur! Polar fleece is acceptable for outdoorsy types or if you're on your way to the gym (not that I do that!).
I think people forget about outerwear and it's just a crying shame. Here in the cold place, I find people forget about style when it's cold. However, the fact that it's cold doesn't mean you shouldn't maintain style!
